Acts 3:19

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

The silence of the Lord.

Job 30:20 “I cry out to you, God, but you do not answer; I stand up, but you merely look at me.

For me, Job is truly one of the most righteous men in the bible. He lived a good life, did everything required of him by the Lord and had the fear of the Lord. And yet no one in the bible faced so much silence from the Lord like Job did. Why?

There are times that we will cry out to the Lord but we shall receive nothing but silence. Does that mean that the Lord doesn’t like us? Does He not hear us? The answer to these questions is no.

Sometimes God will take us through a period of silence so that we can finish a test. The end result of this is growth. God was silent when it came to Job because he was going through a period of testing. Job had lived an amazing life but he had to pass one more test in order to be made whole.

Job 1:1 In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.

We too shall have those moments like this man when we cry out to the Lord to get us out of something but no answer shall come because we need to complete the test. Look at it this way. In school, the teachers will take you through about three months in a term of teaching. At the end of these months, you have to go through about three hours of testing, now during this test there will be silence from the teachers. They will be in the room with you but silent. This is what God does, He goes through periods of teaching you and then tests you. When you are struggling with the test He is there with you, probably looking over your shoulder at what you are doing but be sure He is there.

Therefore if you are going through a silence period know that God is with you, yes He is close but you have to finish the test first.

Judge not Peter.

Hello everyone 😁

John 18:17 “You aren’t one of this man’s disciples too, are you?” she asked Peter. He replied, “I am not.”

Reading John chapter 18, a question crosses my mind. Why would Peter after seeing all that Jesus had done deny Jesus??? I then realised I was judging Peter.

It is very easy to question and even judge Peter for denying Jesus three times but we have also done this. We have actually denied Jesus more times than we can count. Atleast I know I have.

Someone might think ‘Nope not me’ that’s okay. Denying Jesus isn’t limited to saying I don’t know Jesus or I am not a Christian. It isn’t limited to keeping quiet while people speak ill of Jesus or what you believe in as a Christian.

Everytime you choose the flesh, you deny Jesus. What I mean by this is every time you ignore that still small voice telling you what to do, you deny Jesus. By this I can’t even begin to count how many times I have denied Jesus.

I repent of this Lord and pray that going forward I will learn to listen to your instructions. I pray for the strength to do this. Amen.

A problem called religion.

Hello…

The world today has a thorn poking at its side. That deeply rooted thorn is called religion. While this problem has come to light, many of us still feel the pain of it’s piercing. Now while some take this piercing laying down others take it with a fight. I commend the latter.

Religion is a prison but unlike prisons with thick walls and doors that shut every night with the prisoner behind it, religion is a prison of the mind, one with open doors. Any second we can choose to walk out infact we have the hand of Jesus Christ sticking out to us to help us come out of it.

We each have a duty to break free from this trap of the enemy. How? One might ask.

1. Through prayer. Only when we partner with the Lord can we climb this mountain.

2. Through studying the word. I have learnt that the more we dig into the Bible the more access we have to our freedom. I am not talking about a physical freedom.

3. Through associating with those with like values. Only when we fraternise with people that understand the harm of religion, can we help ourselves and each other be alert to it and come out of it.

John 16:20

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

John 16:22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.

This is a very comforting verse. Many times we feel sad and even depressed and feel like the whole world is moving on while we break. This is an encouragement that it all comes to an end, the pain, sorrow, every negative thing.
